Understanding Mailing Lists and Lead Management

Learn how mailing lists work on Scalelup and how to efficiently manage your collected leads for maximum business growth

Updated over 2 months ago

Mailing lists are at the heart of successful lead generation on Scalelup. They allow you to organize, track, and nurture your contacts, turning interested visitors into long-term clients or customers. Here’s an overview of how mailing lists and lead management work on the platform.

What Is a Mailing List?

A mailing list on Scalelup is a collection of contacts (leads) who have submitted their details via your landing pages. Each list is independent and can be connected to one or more landing pages, making it easy to segment your audience by campaign, offer, or business line.

Creating and Connecting Mailing Lists

  • When you create your first landing page, Scalelup automatically generates a mailing list if you don’t already have one.

  • Each landing page must be connected to a mailing list to store collected leads.

  • You can create multiple mailing lists for different purposes (e.g., separate lists for different products, events, or target audiences).

  • To connect or change a mailing list for a landing page, use the !Change List! button in the landing page management section.

Required Information for Mailing Lists

To comply with GDPR and anti-spam laws, each mailing list must include:

  • Your full name and address (the data controller for collected leads)

  • A sender email address (used for lead verification emails)

  • (Optional) A custom signature for verification emails

You can update or complete this information by editing the mailing list settings.

How Leads Are Collected and Verified

  • When a visitor submits their details via your landing page, their information (name, email, IP address, country) is stored in the attached mailing list.

  • The visitor receives a verification email (double opt-in). Only after confirming their email address will they be officially added to your list.

  • The lead’s verification status is visible in the contact details.

Managing Your Leads

  • Access your mailing lists from the Mailing Lists section in the Marketing Tools area.

  • Select a list and click "Open List" to view:

    • Statistics (new leads in the last 24 hours, 7 days, and total count)

    • Number of verified contacts

    • A list of all subscribers with their details and verification status

  • Use the filter icon to display only verified or unverified contacts.

  • Click on a contact to view detailed information or to delete the lead if necessary.

Mailing List and Landing Page Independence

  • Deleting a landing page does not delete the associated mailing list or its contacts.

  • Mailing lists can be reused and connected to multiple landing pages.

Best Practices for Lead Management

  • Segment your lists: Create separate mailing lists for different campaigns or audiences to send more targeted communications.

  • Keep your list clean: Regularly review and remove unverified or inactive contacts.

  • Stay compliant: Ensure you have all required information filled in for each mailing list.

With Scalelup’s flexible mailing list and lead management tools, you can organize your contacts, track your growth, and lay the foundation for effective email marketing and business development.
